About
A steady hand for everyday Mac care.
Cleany Mac is an independent walkthrough. We explain what keeps a MacBook pleasant to use, in plain language, and leave the drama out of it.
Why this exists
Type "my Mac is slow" into any search box and you'll meet a wall of flashing alerts and one-tap promises. We wanted the calm alternative: a clear account of what's really happening, and steps you can take yourself with the tools Apple already includes in macOS.
Everything here has been done many times over on our own machines and on those of friends and family. We test on current macOS before publishing and revisit the steps whenever Apple shifts things around, so what you read matches what you see on screen.
How we think about it
We treat a Mac tune-up as ordinary upkeep — like tidying a desk — rather than an emergency. Understand what's going on, make a few gentle adjustments, then let good habits run in the background. That's the whole philosophy.
Our test for any step: it has to be safe to reverse, and we have to be able to explain it in a sentence. If it fails either, it doesn't make the walkthrough.
What we won't do
- Show countdown timers, red alerts, or "your Mac is at risk" theatrics.
- Pressure you to buy or install anything to follow along.
- Promise guaranteed, dramatic speed-ups — real Macs are more nuanced than that.
Independence
We publish independently and represent no maker of hardware or software. Cleany Mac is not affiliated with Apple Inc. Apple, Mac, MacBook, and macOS are trademarks of Apple Inc. Our aim is simply to help you enjoy the Mac you already own.
